The meal is over. The bill arrives. 👀

That little awkward moment… who pays?

Easy: “Let’s split the bill!” 🧾

Two friends cheerfully splitting a restaurant bill together at the table

“Split the bill” = to share the cost — everyone pays their part.

Split = 나누다. So you’re literally “dividing the bill.” ✂️🧾

💡 “split the bill” = “나눠 내다” / “각자 내다” 라는 뜻이에요. 계산대 앞에서 제일 많이 쓰는 표현!

Common patterns:

→ “Let’s split the bill.” (나눠 내자)

→ “Want to split it?” (나눠 낼래?)

→ “We split everything 50/50.” (우린 모든 걸 반반으로 나눠 — “fifty-fifty”라고 읽어요!)

💡 해외 식당 꿀팁! 미국 등에서는 아예 계산서를 따로 받을 수 있어요: “Can we get separate checks?” (계산서 따로 주시겠어요?) 하면 각자 먹은 것만 딱 나와요. 정말 편해요!

“Split the bill”

나눠 내다 / 각자 내다

💬 After lunch with a friend

A: That was so good. Okay, the bill is $32.

B: Let’s split it — $16 each! 🧾

💬 At a restaurant abroad

Server: Will this be one check?

You: Can we get separate checks, please? 😊

Server: Of course!

💡 “check” = 계산서 (미국식). 영국에서는 “bill”을 더 많이 써요. “Can we get the bill, please?” (계산서 주세요)

🔄 Money talk at the table

“Let’s split the bill.” → 나눠 내자 🧾

“Separate checks, please.” → 계산서 따로 주세요 ✂️

“It’s on me!” → 내가 살게! (반대 표현 — 한턱!) 😎

“I’ll get the next one.” → 다음엔 내가 낼게 (오늘 얻어먹었을 때!) 🙏

✅ Quick Quiz!

Dinner with a friend is $40. You want to pay $20 each. What do you say?

→ (A) “Let’s split the bill!”

→ (B) “It’s on me!”

(A)! 🎉 (B) means YOU pay all $40. Careful — one small phrase, $20 difference! 😂

No more awkward bill moments.

Just smile and say:

“Let’s split it!” 🧾
