Talk about goals and plans
Everyone has dreams — learning a new language, traveling the world, starting a business. But how do you explain your plan to achieve them? "I'm saving money in order to..." "I wake up early so that I can..." These purpose expressions connect your actions to your goals. Let's master them today!
What's one goal you're currently working toward? What steps are you taking?

"First, I need to save money. Also, I'll research visa requirements. Finally, I'll book my flights."
먼저 돈을 모아야 해요. 또한 비자 요건을 조사할 거예요. 마지막으로 항공편을 예약할 거예요.
→ "하고 싶어"보다 적극적이에요. 열심히 노력 중이라는 느낌이 나요.
"What I'm working toward is financial freedom, so I'm building an online business."
제가 추구하는 건 경제적 자유예요, 그래서 온라인 사업을 시작하고 있어요.
→ "~하기 위해서"의 격식체예요. 회사에서 쓰면 프로페셔널해요.
"I'm taking online courses in order to switch to a career in tech."
테크 분야로 이직하기 위해 온라인 강의를 듣고 있어요.
→ 행동과 목표를 연결해요. 일상 대화에서 자연스러워요.
"I'm learning Spanish so that I can communicate when I travel to South America."
남미 여행 갔을 때 소통할 수 있도록 스페인어를 배우고 있어요.
→ "더 일찍 시작했으면..." 과거 후회 + 현재 어려움을 함께 말하면 현실적이에요.
"If I had started saving earlier, I'd be closer to my goal. The main obstacle now is finding time while working full-time."
더 일찍 저축을 시작했으면 목표에 더 가까웠을 거예요. 지금 가장 큰 장애물은 풀타임으로 일하면서 시간을 찾는 거예요.
I heard you're planning a big trip next year. What's your goal?
Yes! I want to spend two months backpacking through Europe. What I'm working toward is having an authentic experience, not just tourist spots.
That sounds amazing! How are you preparing?
First, I'm saving 30% of my salary each month in order to afford it. Also, I'm learning basic phrases in French and Italian so that I can connect with locals.
Any challenges so far?
The biggest challenge is managing my time. I'm working extra hours to save money, but that means less time for language study.
